It is important to remember that the body and mind are inter-connected, and therefore it is only logical that what we eat something it has an effect on our mood, emotions and feelings. There are people who, after many years, of suffering from anxiety suddenly find relief just by changing their diet.
Here are so-called culprit foods and drinks that you can reduce or even omit if you are having anxiety problems or even panic attacks.
Caffeine
You are probably not surprised about this, it is often talked about in connection with high blood pressure but caffeine can also be highly responsible for panic attacks and chronic anxiety. Some people are more sensitive than others and they can over react to caffeine. It is really worth giving up caffeine for a while to see if you feel better.
Processed food
Additives in food are unhealthy, we all know that, but there is very little thought given to the fact that our modern non organic food could be linked to anxiety states. Eliminate tinned, frozen food, fast food and fizzy drinks from your diet, it could automatically improve the way you feel - some people have found this to be the answer to their anxiety.
Alcohol
Often people will have a drink to calm down and they actually think that it helps them with their anxiety, unfortunately this is a misconception because when the effects of the alcohol wear off, it can actually make you feel worse than before. Keep away from excessive amounts of alcohol it can actually provoke more anxiety.
Sugar especially refined
Keep to a minimum, there is sugar in lots of things and eating too much can cause havoc with the blood sugar in the body. This can cause imbalance in the body and aggravate more anxiety.
You should reduce or cut out completely any food that is likely to stimulate you in any way, as anxiety is an over reaction you certainly do not want to add to this.
If you are suffering from anxiety disorder or panic attacks you it is not only the case of avoiding "anxiety food" it is also important to eat regularly and to make sure that you are getting the right amount of minerals and vitamins. Check your eating habits in general, try to eat a healthy diet, you may be surprised how much better you feel.
